Is Padraig Harrington the most underrated mind in golf? Maverick McNealy seems to think so! After being paired with the three-time Major champion during a punishing second round at the 2026 PGA Championship, Maverick couldn’t stop talking about the “schooling” he received on the course.
While the wind at Aronimink was wreaking havoc on the field, Harrington put on a display of short-game magic and “grind-it-out” mentality that left the 30-year-old McNealy in awe. In this video, we dive into McNealy’s comments about why Harrington is the “best” person to play with if you want to understand the true soul of the game.
For those of us on the Scratch at 50 journey, this is the ultimate validation. If a top PGA pro like Maverick is still taking notes from a 50+ legend like Padraig, it proves that “old man golf” isn’t about age—it’s about wisdom, creativity, and never giving up on a par.

Seems like a genuinely nice guy, hope he plays well this weekend and stays in contention, unlike my picks who are on their way home as I type this 😡
Padraig is a complete Champion on and off the course. Everyone should watch his 2 minute video on how to intro your kids to golf. Well played Mav.
Harrington wasn't mentioned at all in this piece…
First time hearing him speak. Really like him. Seems like a down to earth sensible dude. I’m Irish though so maybe I’m biased after the shout out to Pádraig 😅
It’s hard not to be impressed with Padraig Harrington. He is such a great ambassador for the sport.
How can you not like this guy? Insightful. Gentleman. The future of golf is good with guys like this.
Pa`draig WAS MENTIONED…just this guy got his name WRONG ..calling him Paddy 😂
His words about Padraig make me like him (Maverick) more. Classy.
