I had about a month off after playing well, now I’m aggressively shanking all the time, does anyone have any drills potentially for a better takeaway or any general advice??

  1. Try gently swinging your arms back and forth to feel the path out. You’re trying to push through the swing too much. Look at how much your head bobs in the video. You want it to remain at mostly the same height throughout the swing

Just have fun with it you don’t have to murder the ball every time. Making good contact is most important. The torque and power come after

  2. Why are you letting go of the club with one hand towards the end of your swing? Stop doing that for starters

  3. I’m gonna give you some advice that has nothing to do with the swing.

Golf is the best sport on earth. It’s all about the journey. Remember to enjoy it, even during the worst times.

There is no way to perfect the game. You can only reach the next plateau.

You have a good swing. Very athletic. You’re going to be fine. You will get it. Enjoy these moments and laugh them off.

When I’m at my best I literally think about nothing. It’s a flow state.

    I’m a 6hdcp and every once in a while I get the S words.

You’ll be a good player. Just keep playing.

  4. It looks like you’re flipping open your club face almost immediately after takeaway. If your trying to shut it right before impact, that could contribute to it

  5. Slow down in your back swing. Keep your weight forward. I assume its a lower degree iron you’re swinging here?

I can hit my higher degree irons ok when I’m not paying attention to my swing but put a 6 or 7 iron in my hand I can easily turn into what you’re showing us.

  6. Look at your address position. If you draw a line from the balls of your feet, to the front of your knees and up to the back of your arm pits, you would be in great balance and be able to hold your posture. You are too far back on your heels and your balance is moving forward and shanks.

  7. Hands are moving away from your body in the takeaway causing disconnection. Notice how your left arm comes off your chest as you take it back good drill below

A quick fix too is to move the ball up in the stance. Start with it drastically up in the stance to where it feels unnatural at first. most ppl shank because of the ball starts to move back in the stance without them really being aware of it. Make sure your drilling ball position and being aware of it when you practice

  8. Less arm bend in the backswing and transition maybe

You have a decent move otherwise so don’t change too much

  9. Load and backswing looks great. Transition is also very good! Nice job. It all looks great until the hands get halfway down and you send them out and at the ball pretty aggressively. That’s the shank. Arms and hands need to continue to move down, like you are lowering a curl. The rotation, which is good, will take the club to the ball. Arms down! A drill that will help you is the classic pump drill.

  10. https://preview.redd.it/h3uwacor8f1h1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a6ddcab9ef8b73a5508840b4c053912f373b226

This is a very common problem and a very simple fix because if it’s not balance there’s only one reason a shank happens.

You lost your sequence. You can’t swing or throw anything with hips square to the target.

Centrifugal force will move the club away from your body. When you have no hip turn like this the club goes away from you at the ball.

When the hips are open to the target the centrifugal force moves the club away from you at the target.

Btw, I’ve been teaching 30 years and not one comment here has any advice that’s correct, and if it’s correct it needs to come after what I said.

You have a fundamental sequence breakdown and all other noticeable problems , while impotent will do nothing when you don’t lead with the lower body properly. You are pitching with no stride off the mount.
