Can better golf clubs help the “average golfer”? That’s what I want to find out in this video as I built a set of 699 Pro V3 irons from Sub70 Golf for my brother-in law, Brad to test for me. Brad has never broken 80… and has been using the same irons for 9 years, so let’s see if better golf clubs can get Brad closer to finally breaking 80!

Do you game Sub70 clubs?
Absolutely loved this video Andrew. Just this past Christmas my wife gifted me a set of 699 pro v1 and I absolutely love them. Gained ten yards and about 500 rpm with every club. I got a full set ( 5 through AW) for a big discount because it was the older model. Got the black finish with graphite shafts for under $500. Thanks again for a quality video. I wish my brother in law would give me some clubs. 😅

No grass on range
Did you ever fit your brother-in-law for a driver? If so, what does he play?
What is the loft difference? 5 yards more might actually be worse considering the change in loft from 9 years ago. That being said, I’m signing up for a full bag fitting in Sycamore.
Brilliant. Love this story. I see so many friends who play that could have the same results but aren't confident in having the fitting. It's a shame.
I do game Sub70 clubs. I'm playing off ~14 right now. I used to play 699s with KBS 120 stiff shafts, but found the hollow body irons had a LOT of front to back dispersion even though the side to side forgiveness was good. I picked up a used set of 659 CBs with slightly lighter Aldila NV95 stiff shafts and really, really like them; they have a little more side to side dispersion but I'm more consistent t front to back with them. I kind of wonder if I'd waited until the 669 CBs came out if they'd have been a better fit. I wish there was a fitter near me!
Unfortunately for me, December 31st 2024, I reached 70 years old so no longer Sub 70. Also I am from the UK but now living in Thailand. I have read so many great reviews of Sub 70 but I think it is a little too late in my golfing career to change.

I played the original 699 pros a few years ago and didn’t care for the. These look better and with proper shaft probably would be good. But not in the market now.

Got the 699 Pro V1 what a difference they have made. Used to game Cobra F8s, but these have been such an improvement. Broke 90 a month ago 1st time and have been 90s throughout. Just some poor choices thru the round holding me back from 80s more often. Going to add the wedges next year or late season.
Don't be cheap. Get him a Sub 70 859 Driver too. It's a very forgiving fairway finder.
I absolutely love my SUB 70 699 PRO. My fiancé got me a gift card for Christmas, and last spring we traveled from Michigan to Sycamore, IL, for a fitting. I had a great experience at their facility and highly recommend them. I just broke 80 for the first time (37-42) a couple of weeks ago. I will be a customer for life.

Love my v1 699 combo set. They're so forgiving but don't look like a tank behind the ball. Not to mention that they have the hands down best customer service in the game.
Been considering these irons. I tend to miss left and have a quick tempo swing. Been wanting a club with less offset than my 2013 callaway razrs. What shaft would you recommend for a fast swing with a natural draw ball flight?
