Mito Pereira needed one par to win the 2022 PGA Championship. One drive into the water changed his life.
At Southern Hills, Pereira was ranked 100th in the world and playing only his second major. He led by three entering Sunday and reached the 18th tee one shot ahead of Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris. A par would win the PGA Championship. A bogey would force a playoff. Instead, his drive found the water and a double bogey knocked him out completely.
