Curious golf fans will be tuning into the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club not just because several of the game’s top talents – Cameron Young, Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick and defending champion Scottie Scheffler, to name a few – are coming into the major playing at a high level. They also want to see a stately venue familiar to golf cognoscenti but less so to everyday aficionados.

The Donald Ross design has the chance to steal the spotlight after a 2017 remodel from the popular team of Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner. The par-70 layout has been stretched more than 7,300 yards (6,675 metres), with bunkers and greens brought back to Ross’ original vision.
The question then is: what will this new old gem yield for today’s best players? Last time it hosted a PGA Tour event was the 2018 BMW Championship, where Keegan Bradley won a playoff over Justin Rose after the pair shot 20-under 260s for the week. Suffice it to say, Aronimink is likely to put up a bigger fight this time around, but Kerry Haigh, the PGA of America’s chief championship officer, isn’t going to be turning the place into Philadelphia’s version of Oakmont, either.

So whose game does Aronimink most suit? It’s hard not to think McIlroy, coming off a second straight Masters victory and seemingly more at peace with his place in the golf universe, has to be thinking good thoughts. Meanwhile, Young and Fitzpatrick are arguably playing at a higher level than McIlroy at this point, with multiple wins each in the past two months.
And while Scheffler has only one win to date in 2026, three straight second-place finishes suggests his game isn’t far away from keeping his grip on the Wanamaker Trophy for a second straight year.
Before handing out any hardware, however, we’ve got to work our way into the championship on Thursday and Friday. Tee-times for the first and second rounds were announced this morning, Australian time. Here are the pairings:
