The President flew on Marine One from the White House to his Virginia golf course, reportedly to speak at the ongoing Saudi Arabia-backed golf tournament taking place there. Reports state that the security and travel costs for such trips add up to nearly $18 million.

New reports suggest that President Donald Trump once again used taxpayer resources while promoting his personal business interests. The President flew on Marine One from the White House to his Virginia golf course to speak at the ongoing Saudi Arabia-backed golf tournament. Reports claim that travel and security expenses for the trips have totaled nearly $18 million.
Trump’s golf courses have partnered with LIV Golf, which is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Interestingly, this is reportedly the second time Trump has taken a trip connected to a LIV event since beginning his second term in office. He also flew to Miami in April 2025 for a dinner tied to a previous LIV tournament at his golf resort in nearby Doral.
Trump also attended the PGA tournament at his course in Doral, Florida. Reports state that travel and security related to the trips have totaled approximately $17.7 million in taxpayer funds.
“With the country at war in the Middle East, and Americans facing a worsening affordability crisis, the president is spending his time making promotional appearances at his properties and events that boost his bottom line,” Jordan Libowitz, a spokesperson for the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, said (via HuffPost). “The economy looks great when you skip out on D.C. to have foreign countries and foreign nationals line your pockets.”
Over the years, Trump has faced criticism from opponents and ethics watchdog groups over allegations that he has used his office to benefit his personal financial interests.
