FRISCO, Texas — Pepperdine women’s golf freshman Kylee Choi has been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division I Freshman of the Year Watch List Presented by StrackaLine, announced this week by the WGCA.
The WGCA Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine is awarded annually to the top Freshman in Division I women’s golf. Freshmen must have competed in a minimum of 15 competitive rounds to be considered.
Choi is one of three freshman golfers named to the watch list, along with Duke’s Rianne Malixi and Tennessee’s Madison Messimer.
Choi earned WCC Freshman of the Year honors for the Waves this season in her debut collegiate campaign. In nine tournaments, she posted six top-five finishes, including a fifth place showing at the WCC Championship. Choi was the low freshman in the field at the conference championship while helping lead the Waves to the team title.
She also placed third at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic and Bruin Wave Invitational, and was fourth at the Fresno State Classic and Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, while posting a fifth-place showing at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
Choi is currently ranked No. 24 in the Scoreboard individual rankings with an adjusted scoring average of 70.0.
