NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont sophomore women’s golfer Sloane Biddle aims for a spot in the NCAA Championship Finals as she begins play Monday at the NCAA Louisville Regional at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky.
The Old Hickory, Tennessee native became the first Belmont women’s golfer to earn a NCAA Championship berth after she captured the MVC Individual Title three weeks ago in Silvis, Illinois.
Biddle had an outstanding season for the Bruins. She is the reigning MVC Golfer of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Conference team for the second consecutive year. She led the Bruins in scoring (73.4), won two individual titles, and had a total of six top-five finishes. Sloane also finished in the top-15 in all 10 events she competed in this season.
The NCAA Louisville Regional will be held at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky. It will play to a par 72 and a length of 6,382 yards. One of the top courses in the state, it has hosted numerous state, national, and collegiate events, including two previous NCAA regionals.
The complete list of teams participating at the Louisville Regional are as follows (by seed) Arkansas, Auburn, Iowa State, Mississippi, Houston, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Indiana College of Charleston, Xavier, Western Kentucky, and Murray State. Individuals (seeded in the following order): Eila Galitsky – South Carolina, Barbara Car – Old Dominion, Maylis Lamoure – South Carolina, Maria Jose Barragan – BYU, Isabella Johnson – Middle Tennessee, Sloane Biddle – Belmont.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals on May 22-27 in Carlsbad, California.
First round play at the regional will begin Monday morning at 7:00am CT. Sloane will tee off from the 10th hole beginning at 8:50am CT.
