President Trump Accused Of Ruining PGA Tour's Cadillac Championship

President Trump Planning ‘Historic Overhaul’ To Public Golf Course

President Trump wants to bring championship-level golf to Washington, D.C. He appears to be getting his wish.

The President of the United States and his administration have been attempting to take control of three popular public golf courses in the Washington, D.C. area, with plans to turn at least one of them into a championship-level, PGA Tour-caliber course.

The plans have received mixed reviews. The three public golf courses are cheap and accessible. Will that still be the case after President Trump and his administration do their thing?

Some are skeptical.

However, the National Links Trust announced on Friday that President Trump and his administration will help keep the courses “open, accessible, and affordable for the residents and communities that depend on them.”

The NLT will have a long-term lease for two courses, while the third course, East Potomac Golf Links, will be operated by the NLT until the course is ready for a “historic restoration” by federal officials.

Statement released on ‘historic’ overhaul plans

The NLT released a statement.

“We are grateful that our talented and dedicated employees can now look forward with certainty about the future… We thank President Trump for reaching an agreement that keeps Washington, DC’s three public golf courses open, welcoming and affordable community gathering places for DC residents and all golfers,” the NLT said.

“We look forward to continuing providing our expertise in operating and managing these beloved and historic courses and to making DC proud.”

President Trump has talked about turning East Potomac into a U.S. Open-caliber course.

The course will be turned into “a top-tier 18-hole championship golf course capable of hosting pre-eminent tournament golf and offering players — of all abilities — an incredible experience in the heart of the Nation’s Capital and the National Mall.”

It’s probably going to take a while, though.
