STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s golf will begin their sixth-straight NCAA Tournament as the three seed in the Chapel Hill Regional on Monday, May 11, with the tournament concluding on Wednesday, May 13.
State will field a familiar lineup as they begin their journey to a fifth consecutive NCAA Championship birth. The Bulldog five include Avery Weed, Ines Belchior, Samantha Whateley, Moa Stridh and Izzy Pellot.
Weed, Whateley and Pellot have become accustomed to playing in the NCAA Tournament. Weed and Whateley will be making their third appearance in the tournament, while Pellot becomes the first Bulldog in program history to appear in the NCAA Tournament in all four seasons of their career.
Belchior and Stridh will be making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The freshman duo have found success in regular season play this year, as they both recorded three rounds in the 60s on their freshman campaign. They are the only freshman teammates in program history to have recorded three or more rounds in the 60s.
The Bulldogs are set to tee off at UNC Finley Golf Club at 7 a.m. CT. State will pair up with the top seed Texas and the hosts, North Carolina. A top five finish will see the Bulldogs advance to their fifth straight NCAA Championship, which would extend the longest streak in program history.
