INCREDIBLY PROUD: David Akeroyd, principal and chief executive officer at Barnsley College
BARNSLEY College has pledged its support to a golf club’s charity day.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the college has backed Wortley Golf Club’s charity golf day which will take place on June 26.
The 2025 event proved to be a stand-out occasion in the club’s busy calendar, bringing together teams from across the region for a day of friendly competition, prizes and memorable moments, including the chance to win a new car with a hole-in-one.
Thanks to the generosity of players, sponsors and organisers, £5,822 was raised in support of patients at Barnsley Hospital.
Organisers Darren Cooper and Geoffrey Berry were instrumental in delivering such a successful day, with their dedication and hard work ensuring the event was both enjoyable and impactful for all involved.
Building on last year’s momentum, the 2026 day will raise funds for breast care services in Barnsley, with ambitions to surpass the total achieved previously and help reach the appeal target of £250,000.
Teams, sponsors and supporters are warmly invited to join them once again at Wortley Golf Club for what promises to be another outstanding day of golf, community spirit and fundraising.
David Akeroyd, principal and chief executive officer at Barnsley College, said: “We are incredibly proud to stand behind this event as headline sponsor, supporting a day that brings people together for such an important cause.
“Giving back to a hospital that makes a life-changing difference to so many families in our community reflects the values we hold as a college – care, compassion and a strong sense of responsibility to those around us.”
