Critics Demand Maximum Penalty After Tiger Woods’ DUI Arrest

Concerned critics do not want Tiger Woods to receive another slap on the wrist following his latest DUI incident.

Woods was arrested on Friday, March 27, after reportedly being involved in a car crash near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida. He was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, along with charges related to property damage and refusing to submit to a lawful test.

As Woods’ DUI case continues to move forward, some Floridians have voiced what they believe justice should look like in the matter.

According to Us Weekly, several people wrote stern letters to the judge overseeing the case, urging the court to “throw the book” at the golfer, whose long history of run-ins with the law has never resulted in actual jail time.

One of the letters, reportedly written by the owner of a prison consulting company, claimed that the “pattern is alarming” and argued Woods should have faced harsher punishment long ago over his previous legal troubles.

“The purpose of sentencing is also deterrence, public safety, accountability, and prevention before someone is killed. This may be one of the last opportunities to stop this pattern before an innocent person is seriously injured or killed on a public roadway,” the individual added.

Beyond advocating for a harsh sentence as a deterrent against future behavior, the man also argued that such a ruling would help restore public confidence in a justice system that should remain free from outside influence.

“This case gives Martin County an opportunity to show the public that justice is not controlled by celebrity status, wealth, political friendships, or public-relations pressure,” the individual added.

To support his argument, the observer pointed to Woods’ ties to several powerful political figures. Among those mentioned was Donald Trump, who publicly expressed support for Woods after the crash and referred to him as a “very close friend” during an interview.

The individual, who is reportedly a radio presenter, also asked for Woods to be jailed as “he is a danger to society.” The critic appeared to suggest that this request may be the strongest form of justice the public could realistically expect.

“The judge will probably tell him he’s lucky he did not kill a family, a child, or a pregnant woman before he is told to do jail time,” the individual added.

Woods Went To Rehab After His DUI Arrest

“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” Woods wrote on Instagram.

“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones, and myself at this time.”
