Vanessa Trump is standing firmly beside Tiger Woods, though she has made it clear to the 15-time major champion that she is willing to support him through the rehabilitation process only once. While recent golf news has largely been consumed by the fallout surrounding PIF’s withdrawal of funding from LIV Golf by the close of the 2026 season, the sport’s most compelling storylines this year have centered on Rory McIlroy’s Masters defense and Woods’ decision to step away from the game indefinitely.

In the lead-up to the 2026 Masters, Woods found himself at the center of controversy after he was arrested and charged with a DUI. The golf icon was discovered carrying hydrocodone pills following a single-vehicle accident in which he flipped his Range Rover in Florida. In the wake of the incident, Woods announced his entry into rehabilitation — said to involve “intense treatment” — and an indefinite hiatus from the sport.

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health,” Woods wrote in a statement posted to social media in March. “This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.” Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson’s former Team USA teammate has told a wild story about his behavior.

Woods further stated, “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

While Trump, who has been in a relationship with Woods since late 2024, was reportedly devastated by the incident and its aftermath, she has pledged her support to the troubled golfer.

Nevertheless, according to the Daily Mail, her willingness to endure this journey with Woods comes with a condition — it’s a one-time commitment. An insider revealed to the Mail that Woods and Trump maintain near-daily communication, with her offering support while setting clear boundaries. “He gives her a day-by-day account of what he’s doing,” the source explained.

“She asks questions. She has made it clear that she is only doing this once. This rehab has to take. It has to be successful. She’s not going to do this again and again. So she’s really invested in his recovery.”

The source further noted, “She says he is feeling more upbeat, positive, he sounds healthy. He’s apologizing to all the people he hurt, which is part of the rehab.”

During Woods’ time in rehabilitation, he’s expected to miss the second major tournament of the 2026 season — the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club — and there’s speculation he may also be absent from next month’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

“I’d be super surprised, it would be wonderful for the event and if he was ready, it would be wonderful for him,” commented U.S. Open CEO Mike Whan, according to Sports Illustrated.

“Obviously, what he’s going through is much bigger than golf. He’s proven before that when he puts his mind to something, he’s going to be great at it. I’m sure he has a lot of years to play USGA championships. I don’t think he’s going to play in any 2026 USGA championship.

“If he ends up playing in USGA championships, great. But when I think of Tiger, my friend, that’s not really what’s important to me right now.”
