DeKALB, IL – Junior Craig Long (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) of the Northern Illinois University men’s golf team was named to the All-MAC Second Team by the Mid-American Conference on Friday morning.
This is Long’s first career All-MAC selection. Long had a scoring average this season of 73.182 with 14 rounds of even par or lower. He was named the MAC Co-Golfer of the Week on September 26 after winning the Badger Invitational at Wisconsin. Long posted a career-low 54-hole score of 11-under par 205 with no bogeys in his last 27 holes. He capped the tournament with a seven-under par 65, one shy of tying the NIU single-round scoring record.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Craig,” said head coach John Carlson. “He continues to be the most prepared and detailed player in our program. His win at the Badger Invitational cemented his case for All-MAC status.”
Long is the first Huskie to win an individual title since 2023 and the third Huskie to win a tournament in the last five season. He also added two top-20 finishes this season, tying for 13th at Lake Las Vegas and placing 19th at this week’s MAC Championship. Long is the fifth different Huskie in the last five seasons to earn All-MAC honors.
