Victoria has completed a rare clean sweep of all three titles at the 2026 Australian Interstate Teams Matches, defeating defending champions New South Wales in a tense grand final at Glenelg Golf Club.

After a dominant 6.5-1.5 win over New South Wales in the final round-robin match to secure both the men’s and women’s titles, Victoria backed it up in the decider with a 6-2 victory in a final that went right down to the wire. Five matches were decided on the 18th hole, while another required extra holes to find a winner.

It marks Victoria’s third overall title in the fifth edition of the combined event, adding to wins in 2024 and 2022. The result continues the alternating pattern at the top, with New South Wales claiming the 2025 and 2023 editions.

The women’s final produced one of the standout moments of the week, with Victoria captain Jazy Roberts securing a 20th-hole win over Ella Scaysbrook to help seal the title. Roberts, who also won in 2024, finished the week undefeated and is expected to turn professional later this year.

“It’s very exciting,” Roberts said. “We knew that if we played well enough, we could get into the final, and then to go out there and win is really nice.”

Roberts and Scaysbrook both entered the grand final unbeaten after strong round-robin campaigns, setting up a high-quality matchup between World Amateur Golf Ranking No. 41 and No. 63.

“It was pretty intense, but we were still talking to each other, we were pretty relaxed,” Roberts said.

“We’re really good friends and we do a lot of travel together, so it can be a little bit awkward when you’re out there and you’re trying to absolutely beat each other, but it was a really close match.”

Her performance carried extra weight given a disrupted preparation, after a sliced finger at work required hospital treatment and kept her from hitting balls for two weeks leading into the event.

“I think I played pretty solid for the preparation that I had,” she said. “It’s a big confidence boost to know that I can still do that despite not having much practice.”

In the men’s final, Victoria captain Abel Eduard also secured his second Interstate Teams title after previously winning in 2024. His match against Kayun Mudadana was tight throughout, with Eduard mounting a late comeback to clinch the decisive point.

“It got tight down the end, but we knew that I was hitting it good enough,” Eduard said. “I thought I had the game there.”

“It was maybe more intense than what me and Kayun’s vibe is normally. We’ve travelled overseas together and I consider him a good friend, but today there were slightly less jokes. We were still having fun and at the end of the day we’re still mates and it’s just golf.”

Victoria’s depth was further highlighted with Seabil Leong also becoming a two-time champion, while Amelia Harris claimed her third Interstate Teams title after previously being part of the 2022 winning side.

Across the week, five players in the women’s competition finished unbeaten through the round-robin stage. Roberts, Scaysbrook, Amanda Gan (WA), Kortni Houston (WA) and Stephanie Keylock (SA) all recorded perfect records at various stages.

Western Australia finished strongly after an 0-2 start, winning their final three matches to take third place on three points, narrowly behind New South Wales. South Australia showed early promise on home soil but finished fourth, while Queensland closed their campaign with an 8-0 win over Tasmania to secure fifth.

Victoria finished the men’s competition undefeated on 4.5 points, a full point clear of Western Australia, while in the women’s event, they edged New South Wales on countback after finishing level on four team points, backed by a superior individual match record.
