Cork’s Duggan claims LPGA monthly award

Cork’s Melissa Duggan has been honoured with The Croke Park Hotel / LGFA Player of the Month award for April.

The vastly-experienced defender was a key cog in the Cork wheel as the Leesiders landed the Lidl National League Division 1 title with victory over Galway in Limerick last month.

That win capped a remarkable first season back in the top flight for Cork, who were relegated in 2024 before bouncing back at the first attempt.

Duggan’s performance against Galway earned her the Player of the Match award and this was well-deserved recognition for the 29-year-old Dohenys player.

Since landing the League title, Cork have been in action in the TG4 Munster championship, losing out against Tipperary and Waterford.

They have the chance, however, to finish their provincial campaign on a high against Kerry at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, next Sunday as the round-robin phase concludes.
