In this lesson, Craig Jones breaks down the real source of “old-guy power” — fast hands with constant body rotation — and why most golfers lose distance as they age. It’s not because your body can’t move like it used to. It’s because you’ve likely been swinging inefficiently your entire life. Craig explains how over-the-top swings, glancing blows, open faces, and the classic chicken-wing kill your ability to deliver the energy of the club to the ball.

You’ll learn how to build effortless power by combining a closed-face grip, a small stance cheat, and a simple “toe past heel” whip move that any golfer can train at home. Craig demonstrates the feel using a dog-throwing Chuck-it tool and then shows how to transfer it directly into your driver swing. With constant rotation and fast hands, you’ll start feeling the ball pop off the clubface without swinging harder — and without wrecking your body.

Whether you’re struggling with steepness, loss of distance, casting, or just want that smooth draw that runs forever, these feels can completely change your strike. Craig also details how short, frequent at-home practice sessions lead to long-term transformation, exactly how he went from a 15-handicap slicer to a 1.

  1. Great video Craig.

Golf club heads are offset for a reason – to naturally make them close during a true swinging motion. Otherwise they would be centre-shafted – more like putters. Trouble is most people hold them with a death-like grip which negates this.

If you turn the head around so that the toe points towards you and swing – you'll find it much harder to close the face. So hold your clubs loosely and allow nature to help, not hinder you!

Watch Mr Hogan as he describes his swinging technique. He keeps both elbows close to his sides and then starts with his hips which brings his bent trail arm into position to release and throw the club head at the ball whilst pivoting around his bent lead arm.

As you get the idea you can let the trail elbow come away at the top to get more leverage but you MUST reconnect it in the downswing.

  2. Thanks for the tips. As a mid 60s guy, playing with my late 30s son, I love the 'damn pop, you smoked that one' comments the best. I still can crank one out there when needed.

  3. I agree this will generate more speed but it requires perfect timing or you will miss the fairway. Unfortunately, this requires hitting a lot of balls, which my back can't do anymore.

  4. I’m in my 60’s and I have always thought that whipping my hips ahead of club was the right move. Thanks for your video because it clearly shows a better way to generate power AND it will save my already busted back.

  5. I absolutely love the image with the Velcro ball for the whip! I am in my mid 40s and I am disabled, I only play with my trail arm. I used to carry the ball about 180 in my 20s and then I quit golfing as I didnt have time with doing a PhD, starting a relationship etc. Now I resumed golf again and armed with degrees in mechanical engineering and the power of youtube I started to change my swing and really try to optimize it using full sequencing and this "whipping" feel. As I said I used to carry the driver about 180 … now in my mid 40s I often carry it up to 250. I literally gained 70 yards of carry over my 20 years old self as a middle aged disabled guy. My mates from back in the day lost some distance and now I hit it by far the farthest of our group. While in my 20s I could not keep up with them ever, like not even close. It still feels a little surreal to me and sometimes when I grab my driver I dont believe that this is how I drive it now until I hit it and stare in disbelief myself haha. The reactions of others are priceless. Middle aged white bearded disabled guy blast 280-290 drives 😂 Its all about good technique and using all muscles that you have efficiently…

  6. Call yourself constant body rotation and show us those fairway bunker shots! Or CBR golf? 😂 my killer shot is trying to steer the golf ball and freezing the body at impact and the hands takeover and off the ball goes left and OB! 🫤

  7. 57 and have decent speed. Lost a lot of distance lately and have been pulling left with over the top move. I hate that move. The slower swing seems like it could transform into a longer faster if needed once you groove it in. I’ve heard one instructed say focus on pushing the left hip/glut back in the down swing instead of a turn. Seems to end up being a turn anyways. I’ll give this a shot.

  8. Senior flex shaft – Closed stance – Right hand under – Draw bias driver. This will remove the right side of the fairway forever. I imagine I'm bowling aiming out to the 7 board and brining it around.

  9. Hi. Craig,I'm live in the UK and this is a great drill to help understand in layman's terms ,an easy swing technique.
Can I ask,I suffer with arm tension, would you suggest a light grip to relieve tension and promote the fast hands theme.Much appreciated
