The Amenity Authority Committee has agreed to spend $80,000 to expand tee boxes at an executive golf course.
Last year, the AAC agreed to spend $272,462 to change the turf variety used at the greens at the Hilltop Executive Golf Course and the Silver Lake Executive Golf Course. Both courses are located on the Historic Side of The Villages.
Director of Golf Maintenance Donald Jones thought it would also be a good opportunity to expand the tee boxes at the Silver Lake course.
“The tee boxes at Silver Lake Executive Golf Course are significantly undersized when compared to those at other Executive Courses. As a result, they experience excessive wear and tear and offer limited tee distance options for golfers. Expanding the tee boxes will improve turf durability, enhance course playability, and provide a significantly improved golf experience for residents and guests. The expanded tee box improvements will be completed concurrently with the greens renovation, allowing all work to be performed during a single course closure, minimizing disruption to golfers,” Jones told the AAC.
