It took the last putt on the 18th green for the first league match of the season to be decided for Toft Ladies.

They eventually secured a great 2.5-1.5 away win at Belton Park in the start of their defence of the South Lincs League Division One title.

The team consisted of captain Cathy Lee, Louise Bradley, Shirley Kehoe, Jackii Crockett, Alison Ravenhill-Nicol, Mairead Scott, Sally Burton and Linda Moss.

A ladies friendly match was played against Elton Furze where the glorious weather made the hills of Toft more arduous for the visitors and the home team came away victorious 3-1.

It was great to see three women – Paula Briggs, Lisa Richardson and Amy Martin – play in their first matchplay contest.

They were well supported by regular players Jackii Crockett (captain) Helen Roscoe, Sandie Streets, Judith Frame and lady section captain Ann Broadbent.

The ladies’ section spring social had seen a nine-hole fun competition which was won by Mairead Scott with Rosemary Delaine Smith in second place and Julie Mclaren taking third.

The Janet Earth Trophy was won by Louise Bradley with 38 points, one point ahead of Shirley Kehoe and two clear of Lorraine Robinson.

Sandie Wilkin lifted the St George’s Day Trophy with 37 points to win on countback from Amy Martin with Shirley Kehoe in third place with 36 points.

Alison Ravenhill-Nicol won the mixed club competition and lifted the 2026 Toft Trophy with 41 points, one ahead of Simon Raines and three clear of Paula Briggs.

Mairead Scott won a medal competition with a nett 73 while Rosemary Delaine-Smith came in second on countback and Alison Ravenhill Nicol was third with a nett 74.

Helen Roscoe won the nine-hole stableford competition on the same day with 17 points, two ahead of Sandra Wildmore who took second place and Margaret Wilson came in third with 10 points.

There was a brilliant 4&3 win for Karen Parsonage and Sandie Wilkins away at Kirton Holme in the Daily Mail Foursomes and they move forward to the fourth round.
