Donald Trump has signed a proclamation at the Oval Office to celebrate National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. During his speech at the event, the president offered a glimpse into his own workout routine and fitness regimen.
“It is indeed a beautiful day to celebrate America’s athletic traditions and champions in physical fitness and all of those things,” Trump began, before taking a detour from his prepared speech to talk about his personal fitness. “I work so hard on a personal basis. I work out so much—like about one minute a day max if I’m lucky,” the president joked, sparking some light chuckles.
Meanwhile, Trump praised U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau, who attended the event, saying, “He’s so much into physical fitness.” The POTUS added, “All you have to do is take a look at him, and you say, ‘Why is he even doing this?’ I think if you didn’t work out at all, you’d still look almost like you do right now.”
Speculations surrounding Trump’s health have long been a topic of public discussion. Most recently, the president stated that he is in “perfect” health in a January 2026 interview with The Wall Street Journal. He also stated that he does not enjoy any form of working out other than golfing.
“I just don’t like it. It’s boring,” Trump said. He added, “To walk on a treadmill or run on a treadmill for hours and hours like some people do, that’s not for me.” The president also dismissed reports that he dozed off during recent meetings, saying he sometimes closes his eyes because he finds it “relaxing.”
