CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina placed three student-athletes on the All-Sun Belt Conference Team, highlighted by senior Max Bengtsson earning first-team honors, while junior Jack Lee and sophomore Drew Sykes were named to the second team, the league office announced Tuesday.
Bengtsson earned second-team honors as a junior last season, while Sykes garnered third-team recognition as a freshman. Lee’s selection marks his first career all-conference honor.
Bengtsson capped a standout senior season with a team-best 71.03 scoring average over 30 rounds, totaling seven rounds in the 60s and 22 rounds at par or better. He punctuated his year by capturing medalist honors at the Sun Belt Championship at 11-under par, the only player in the field to finish double digits under par.
Lee earned second-team honors after posting a 71.20 scoring average with one tournament victory, five rounds in the 60s and 20 rounds at par or better. He claimed medalist honors at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate with a 14-under par performance.
Sykes, also a second-team selection, led the team with a 70.83 scoring average, adding eight rounds in the 60s and a team-high 23 rounds at par or better. He finished runner-up at the Sun Belt Championship at 8-under par.
The Chanticleers captured the Sun Belt stroke play title at 14-under par and earned the No. 1 seed for match play en route to a runner-up finish at the conference championship.
