AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The 40th annual Jernigan Memorial Golf Tournament was underway at Woodside Plantation in Aiken.

The tournament is named after Harry W. Jernigan Jr. who founded the Piedmont Augusta Foundation. This year’s event is in support of low-dose CT cancer screenings.

“We enjoy being a part of the CSRA and being able to help those different groups such as their Foundation and be, you know, a contributing member to what goes on and the research that they’re doing there at the hospital,” said Bob Burns, general manager at Woodside Country Club. “I owe a lot to the folks at Piedmont and the people that are involved at the hospital and the research center there. So for me, it has a personal and very special situation where we enjoy having this group come out each year.”

All of the proceeds from the event stay in the local area.
