President Donald Trump made a surprise visit to the Cadillac Championship 2026 in Miami, Florida, just hours after a man was physically detained by the Secret Service at his Trump National Doral Golf Club. The PGA Tour event, which carries a $20 million prize fund, drew a large crowd to the course. Trump arrived and waved to the thousands of people in attendance before taking his seat in the stands.

The tournament marks the first time the PGA Tour has returned to Doral since the World Golf Championships event held there in 2016. Earlier in the day, before Trump arrived, a man was taken into custody by Secret Service agents at a security checkpoint on the course. He had allegedly ignored orders from officers and made physical contact with one of them.

According to the Daily Mail, the video of the incident was posted on social media, showing the man being handcuffed and detained. He was later charged with disorderly conduct and resisting without violence. The Secret Service confirmed that Trump was not on the property at the time of the incident.

The detention at Doral is another reminder that security at Trump’s properties remains an ongoing concern

The Secret Service said in a statement that the incident “did not impact the established security posture for any upcoming visits to Trump National Doral Golf Club by Secret Service protectees.” A spokesperson also said the situation “was quickly contained and did not affect security operations at the property.”

However, the fact that the man was able to make physical contact with a Secret Service agent before being stopped raised questions about the security setup at the venue, reports Fox News. This is not the first time a security incident has taken place near one of Trump’s properties. In April 2026, a man was arrested outside Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course after allegedly making a threat against the President.

Around the same time, another man was arrested at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington after attempting to storm the stage. The sports world has also had its share of attention-grabbing moments lately, such as when the Miami Dolphins gave Malik Willis $45 million guaranteed before he threw a first pitch that immediately got fans worried.

🚨 JUST IN: Secret Service have just handcuffed a “protestor” after he set off the magnetometers at Trump National Doral in Florida

Unclear exactly why he’s been detained, but USSS doesn’t just cuff you for setting off magnetometers

The Cadillac Championship 2026 is a major event for the PGA Tour, and Trump’s decision to attend drew significant attention. Thousands of fans were present at the course, and his appearance was met with a strong reaction from the crowd. The tournament’s return to Doral is seen as a significant moment for both the course and the PGA Tour.

Security at high-profile events involving the President is always a complex operation, and the Secret Service is responsible for managing the safety of everyone on the grounds. The agency is known for its strict procedures and thorough planning, and it is expected to review the Saturday incident closely to see what adjustments, if any, need to be made going forward.

In other sports news making the rounds this week, Jake Ferguson’s 4.81 forty and pilates routine with fiancée Haley Cavinder has been turning heads among NFL fans. Trump’s golf courses have continued to host major events and attract large numbers of visitors.

The Cadillac Championship is one of the biggest tournaments to be held at Doral in years, and Saturday’s security incident, while serious, did not disrupt the overall flow of the event or prevent the President from attending later in the day.
