Scottie Scheffler Adds Surprising Event to 2026 Schedule | The Shotgun Start

Joseph LaMagna and PJ Clark check in for another Monday whiparound on the SGS YouTube channel. They discuss Cameron Young’s big win at Trump Doral and whether the PGA Tour has successfully (accidentally?) turned him into a much-needed star, a shocking schedule adjustment for Scottie Scheffler, and a potential equipment change for Tony Finau. The two also take a look back at some great moments in 3M Open history.

  1. Hey guys. Let me provide an alternate perspective.

I happen to work for the event management company that runs the 3M Open. I am also a full blown golf course architecture nerd, and I would be the first one to admit that TPC Twin Cities is no architectural masterpiece. That said, we put on a great community event and this tournament means a lot to the people of Minnesota. Also, the course itself is great for tournament golf. Reachable par 5s, good set of par 3s, and an exciting 5 hole stretch to finish things out where you can make birdie or double on every hole.

Am I somewhat of a homer in this situation? Of course. But, every time you talk about TPC you act like it’s the worst golf course in America and watching the tournament is like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Just comes across as very smug and at this point you’re just hating to hate.

We are excited to bring Scottie to town and it will be great for “that little neighborhood” that you love so much!

  2. When is Joseph going to drop the “Rahm is a top player” nonsense. He’s not. There is absolutely no legitimate basis upon which any reasonable person could conclude that he’s top 5 let alone top 3. None. As for PJ, there’s no way to determine where he belongs *except to say that it’s not at the top. When a player doesn’t participate in *any legitimate competitions other than the Majors, and doesn’t even challenge for a win in any of them (save briefly a PGA), all that you can say is “not at the top”. Has he finished top 3 in a Major since going to LIV — no. Best finish in a Major since going to LIV? T-7. Wow. T-45, MC, WD, T-7, T-14, T-8, T-7, T-38. Top what?

This is like concluding that Trevor Bauer is a top pitcher because he threw a no hitter for the independent Long Island Ducks. Success in the low, low, low minors doesn’t equate to success in the Majors.
