There was a tremendous turnout last weekend for the John McLaughlin (Larry) Memorial Open Stableford at Buncrana Golf Club.
Kindly sponsored by the McLaughlin (Larry) family, the event was played in some challenging weather conditions, however the course was presented in top-class order. The greens, in particular, were running true and fast, while some very challenging pin positions ensured that scoring was never going to be straightforward.
Despite the testing setup, Keith Shiels (14) rose to the occasion with an outstanding performance, returning a superb 41 points to claim victory. Remarkably, Keith achieved this impressive total despite recording two blank holes, highlighting the quality of his play across the remainder of the round. All the practice Keith has been putting in is clearly starting to pay dividends, and if he continues in this vein of form, he will no doubt be in contention for more podium finishes in the months ahead.

Major Fund Raising Draw
The club is running a Major Fundraising Draw to extend the locker room to cater for more adult and juvenile members wishing to avail of the locker facilities, which are presently inadequate to accommodate everyone. As part of this development, there will also be provision for a dedicated coaching room to facilitate a golf simulator and indoor putting area.
Tickets are priced at €25 for 1, €50 for 3, or €100 for 7. Members are asked to support this fundraising initiative by purchasing tickets and if possible, selling tickets to family and friends. There will also be opportunities for members to help out at various day events by selling tickets in different venues. All help is greatly appreciated and this initiative is for the benefit of all members as the club continues to develop and create facilities that can cater for everyone.
