Donald Trump Jr.’s eldest child, Kai Trump, feels like people are judging her without actually knowing her—just because of her controversial grandpa (and entire family, honestly). During an appearance on influencer Logan Paul’s podcast, Kai, 18, spoke about how she seems to already have a lot of haters due to her last name.
The comments have resurfaced on social media, and critics don’t really feel sorry for her. While some people tried to give her the benefit of the doubt—after all, Kai is only 18 years old—a lot of people pointed to how Kai has also taken advantage of being a Trump.
Kai thinks half of the world dislikes her.
While speaking to Logan, Kai said, “Some people don’t like me — I mean 50% of the world doesn’t like me — because of my last name. But like, they don’t actually know me.” She went on to say that she hopes she can change people’s minds if they actually get to know her for who she is. “I’m hoping that if people actually give me a shot and not look at the last name, I won’t have any opps, but we’ll see,” she said.
Logan then asked Kai if she’s had any negative experiences with people who have confronted her just because she’s a member of the Trump family. “One time I was out in public and someone literally walked up to me to tell me that my grandpa sucks,” she revealed.
When this happened, she didn’t really know what to say. “I’m like, ‘Well, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to say that’ like, great, what do you want me to say to that?” she said. “I was literally like, ‘OK.’”
People had mixed reactions to Kai’s comments.
Kai Trump says “50% of the world” doesn’t like her because of her last name.

Because, on one hand, an 18-year-old obviously should not be held responsible for her grandpa’s actions. She can’t control who her grandpa is. “No one deserves harassment over family ties, period,” one person on X argued in Kai’s defense.
And someone else wrote, “Not a Trump fan, but you’ve gotta be some kind of dirt bag to make an effort to go over and directly insult an 18 year old because of who her granddad is.”
However, seemed to think that if Kai truly had a problem with her family, she could do more to distance herself from them. Instead, she has used her name to sell merch, land podcast appearances, and take advantage of other opportunities, several critics argued. The fact that she seems to be taking advantage of (and even trying to profit off of) her family ties has some people convinced that she’s a “grifter” like many of her relatives.
One critic argued, “If you’re gonna take advantage of that last name and enjoy the perks of ‘qualifying’ for events or tournaments you’d NEVER get into in a million years, then you have to deal with the flip side: people giving you s— for your last name.”
She seems to have chosen to be in the public eye.
Kai doesn’t exactly lie low in the way that her uncle Barron tends to. Kai doesn’t have to go on podcasts or sell merch. So, some critics don’t really feel sorry for her. “50% of the world doesn’t like her because she is using her status and privilege to grift,” one critic argued.
Another person added, “she does have a fashion line where she uses the ‘trump’ name. that’s voluntary and in an effort to make money, so that puts her in the public eye. remind me of the fashion line the Obama daughters promoted in the white house? how many podcasts did they go on??”
Several people argued that on some occasions, Kai has sparked backlash on her own—so the judgement isn’t just because of her grandpa or her last name. One commenter agreed that Kai should absolutely not be judged because of her last name or controversial grandfather. Then, they added, “But she should definitely be disliked and denounced for flaunting a very expensive shopping trip to LA while her grandfather was ruining the global economy.”
At the same time, Kai is young, and her perspectives might change. As for now, though, a lot of critics think she seems “out of touch.”
