Scottie Scheffler endured a difficult few days at the recent Cadillac Championship, which meant his long term caddie Ted Scott felt the brunt of his frustration

Scottie Scheffler was seen shouting at long-term caddie and mentor Ted Scott during his frustrating final round at the Miami Championship. The World No. 1 took second at President Donald Trump’s ‘Blue Monster’ course.
However, he was well behind eventual winner Cameron Young, who finished six strokes ahead of his Ryder Cup team-mate on 19-under par. It was the third competition in a row that Scheffler had to content himself with second.
He missed out on the RBC Heritage Classic after losing to Matt Fitzpatrick in a playoff and was also runner-up to Rory McIlroy at the Masters. The brewing frustration of three consecutive second place finishes may have got the better of Scheffler in Miami, to the detriment of Scott, who has been with the World No. 1 since joining him in 2021.

On the ninth hole of the final round, Scheffler had, what appeared to be, a routine tap-in for par. However, he misjudged the hill and he missed by a ball’s width.
After he begrudgingly nudged the ball into the hole from a few centimetres away for a bogey, he could be seen turning to Scott and bickering in the veteran caddie’s ears. When Scheffler let his mentor know what he thought about his guidance during that putt, Sky Sports commentator said: “He has just about had enough of these greens.
“He’s simply out of answers. Only birdies coming I’m sure are tap-ins at the par fives today. Ted Scott’s ears may be bleeding at the end of the day.”
While Scheffler was anything but happy with his display, he was thrilled for fellow American, Young, who stormed to victory in rampant fashion. Scheffler said: “I’ve always been very impressed with Cam’s game.

“Every time I played with him throughout – I mean, I’ve known him a long time. Every time I’ve played with him I’ve always been impressed with his game.
“This week he hit a lot of quality shot. A lot of quality iron shots, quality tee shots, especially on the holes where it really matters. There are some tee shots out here that are really difficult and he stepped up and hit the shots.
“On the greens he was unbelievable this week. First 27 holes I don’t think he missed anything really. It was nuts. Guy was just holing everything. When you’re hitting really good shots and holing a lot of putts that’s a recipe to run away with a golf tournament.”
