No. 15 Men’s Golf Earns Second Consecutive West Coast Conference Championship

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — No. 15 Pepperdine men’s golf is back-to-back WCC Champions!

The Waves defeated Augusta in the match play semifinal this morning 4.5-0.5 before taking down Oregon State in the match play final 4-1. It’s Pepperdine’s 24th WCC title, defending last year’s crown with a repeat effort in 2026. The Waves earned a bid to their 15th NCAA appearance and 29th regional appearance.

“So happy for the guys, especially our seniors Mahanth and Brady,” said Head Coach Michael Beard. “They fought hard all week. The greens were very fast and it felt like the wind was blowing in different directions. It forced us to adjust and be great at choosing the correct shot. We are thankful to be bringing back the WCC championship trophy back to Malibu!”

Against the Jaguars in the semifinal, Brady Siravo finished two up on Pieter Rossouw, Jr.

Carson Kim took the loss against Dean Wilken, who finished four up on Yorba Linda, California native.

Willy Walsh kept the Waves rolling with a win against Stefan Jacobs (two up).

Mahanah Chirravuri pulled out a win against Josh Daniels (one up), and Byungho Lee closed out the round with a one-up win against Bo Blanchard.

After an hour intermission, Pepperdine returned to the links to face Oregon State in the match play finals after they defeated San Diego in their match play semifinal. Collin Bodgkinson had nailed a four-foot putt on the 18th hole to break the tie to advance OSU.

Chirravuri fell to Stanley Lin (4&3) after the former bogeyed on 13 and the latter birdied on 14.

Despite several close matchups, Pepperdine completed the back nine strong, starting with Siravo, who survived an eagle from Nguyen Anh Minh on 14. Anh Minh and Siravo went par-for-par on the final three holes, with Pepperdine tallying a point after Siravo was one up on his counterpart.

Walsh answered Hodgkinson’s birdie on 15 with one of his own, then ensued with another birdie on 16 to go one-up before securing another point for the Waves. He birdied six holes in the round, earning the win with two of them on the last three.

Kim would end up sealing the deal for Pepperdine, getting a crisp landing shot near to the pin before burying a three-foot birdie. He celebrated with a fist pump as the junior clinched the title for the Waves.

On hole 17, Byungho Lee added one more point for Pepperdine with a birdie, locking up a win over Rylan Johnson.

The Waves will find out where they are headed for the NCAA Regionals this Wednesday at 11:00 am Pacific on the Golf Channel selection show. The Regionals take place from May 18-20.
