ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — Eastern Michigan University’s men’s golf team led the standings after the first round of the Mid-American Men’s Golf Championship at Holliday Farms with a score of 288 (+4). Miami is in second place in the team standings after recording a score of 296 (+12), while NIU currently sits in third with a 297 (+13).  

NIU’s Patrick Raupp leads the individual standings with a 69 (-2), setting the pace for the field.

Tied for second were Miami’s Liam Nelson and Eastern Michigan’s duo of Joshua Hess and Rory Obrien, each carding a 70 (-1). Keith Hunter of Central Michigan University rounded out the top five with a 71 (E). The competition saw a close grouping, with multiple players finishing within four strokes of the leader.

Eastern Michigan showcased strong team depth, with three players finishing in the top 10. Charlie Box and Robby Turnbull tied for seventh with 74 (+3), contributing to the team’s position. The RedHawks, in second, benefited from Nelson’s performance, while Brett Podobinski and Tyler Anderson both carded 75 (+4) to stay competitive. Northern Illinois, in third, was buoyed by Devin Swoyer’s T7 finish, also posting a 74 (+3).

In the team standings, Central Michigan and Bowling Green were neck and neck, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Angelo Luciani led for the Falcons with a 73 (+2), placing him sixth individually. Luciani’s round was highlighted by an impressive hole-in-one at the 9th hole. Central Michigan’s Jeffrey Andrus supported the team’s effort with a 74 (+3), tying for seventh alongside Turnbull and others.
