Golfers celebrate Groesbeck Golf Course’s 100th anniversary with hickory clubs

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Golfers swung back in time today at Groesbeck Golf Course, celebrating the course’s 100th anniversary and World Hickory Golf Day.

Local players and enthusiasts played golf like it was 1926, when the course first opened.

The Capital Area Hickory Golfers and the Michigan Hickory Tour hosted the event.

“We’re lucky here in Lansing that we have a golf course that’s 100 years old,” said Rob Julin, a hickory golfer. “And it’s a lot of fun to come out and play and be part of history and play with clubs authentic to the era.”

Julin encouraged anyone interested in hickory golf to reach out to the Capital Area Hickory Golfers or to Groesbeck Golf Course.
