AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s almost time for the “19th Hole Party” to celebrate one of Austin’s oldest golf courses.
Lion’s Municipal Golf Course or simply Muny as most call it, has been playing host to golfers for more than 100 years.
The course was the first public golf course in the city of Austin and the first course to desegregate in the South.
The future of the course is unknown, with talks of possible development coming up over the years, but the Muny Conservancy has been advocating to keep the course around.

“This is a great opportunity to celebrate a green space in Austin that has been around since 1924 and a build awareness in the community,” said Shannon Provost, incoming executive director for the Muny Conservancy.
Gary P. Nunn and Angel White will be performing at the event with a special guest as well.
The event kicks off Friday morning with the Muny Cup followed by the ’19th Hole Party’ at 6:00 p.m. at Lion’s Municipal Golf Course.
