Rick puts the Shot Scope LM1 launch monitor to the test on the course and range, breaking down its accuracy, ease of use, and whether it really delivers for the price. From club speed to carry distance, see how it performs in real-world conditions and in the studio. We find out if this compact device is a game-changer or just another golf gadget.
Welcome to H.I.T Golf Reviews – the home of honest, independent and trustworthy golf equipment reviews.
If you want straight-talking advice on drivers, irons, wedges, putters, golf balls and golf tech, you’re in the right place. Every review is based on proper testing, launch monitor data and real on-course experience – not marketing slides.
We test all the big names (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Cobra and more) plus the direct-to-consumer brands you’re starting to hear about. New vs old, budget vs premium, “forgiving” vs “players” – we put them head-to-head so you can see what actually performs.
Our testing is built around launch monitor data (GCQuad) and real-world shots, but we always explain the numbers in normal-golfer language. No fluff, no hidden agendas – just whether a club will help your game or not.
Whether you’re:
buying your first proper set,
a mid-handicapper looking for more forgiveness, or
a low-handicap player chasing that perfect combo of feel and distance,
H.I.T is here to help you pick the right gear for your swing, not just the newest thing on the shelf.
Why H.I.T exists:
To cut through the hype.
To give golfers the truth.
To save you time, money and a few golf balls.
To make the game a bit easier – and more fun.

Rick, try out the PRGR launch monitor. It's similar in price and gives the same data.
Cause the monitor is further back?
That radar in ShotScope only measures the first few meters….
@17:12 you have the launch monitor set for a 7iron, but you're only hitting 150, were you hitting a 7 iron Rick? Normally your 7 iron goes 180+
"It's a super great launch monitor! The only caveat being that is shows 150 yds shots as being 180 yds. But apart from that, it's SUPER GREAT!"
$20k and us amateurs haven’t reduced our handicaps by one stroke.
If it could work on a sim it would be gold.
I wonder if it's because of the terrain of the course effecting the carry
No ball flight = no purchase. Makes since why its so cheap. Its like the Temu version.
LM1 seems to be 5-6 yards carry different to quad. Is it because its 5 yards further back than the quad?
I wonder if you could adjust the distance discrepancy with the irons by choosing another club. With club having stronger lofts you might need to make an adjustment to the monitor?
Imo these tests should be showed also in meters! Like 30% of all players in the world uses meters.
Could the carry distance be 5-6 yards longer because the monitor has to be that far behind the ball?
Take a look at the SC 4 Pro I believe it's about 450.00
You coild have moved the device back a foot to see if it helped with reading the distance outside. The garmin R10 sits 6 feet behind the ball and that also uses radar.
Thank you VERY MUCH for the real world outside test! That's the kind of thing that I need to see. To be honest, I'm more interested in the ball speed, club speed, and launch angle, and not too interested in the "computed" carry distance, which as we know is just its best guess.
Launch IQ is exactly the same size gadget but only £99 with their discount code..
Isnt this the same as a Garmin G80?
How do you know the GCQuad is correct?
Think we all saw that first swing and thought this is a no brainer. Can’t wait to pick one up!
I own a Square launch monitor but am considering buying one of these for the simple fact it has club speed and smash factor. It's absolutely ridiculous I can't do a speed training mode on a $700 device but you can on a $200 device and even the first gen Rapsodo.
Did you have it set to the right club on the par3? Says 7i..
Outdoor. Did you you set it to on the range or course?
Every single total yard number was within 1 yard. It’s all amateurs need to know – stop being a whiner – it’s annoying
