Cameron Young has powered five strokes clear of the field at the Cadillac Championship at Trump National in Doral.
The Players Champion followed up his opening round 64 with an impressive 67 on Friday, containing six birdies and one dropped shot, to stretch his lead out to five shots at the midway point.
Three-time major champion Jordan Spieth is in a three-way tie for second place after stalling slightly with a second round of 71.
Joining Spieth on eight under par are Canada’s Nick Taylor and fellow American Alex Smalley.
Gary Woodland occupies fifth place on seven under, with a large grouping on six under, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and England’s Alex Fitzpatrick, fresh from his victory with his brother Matt at the Zurich Classic.

Shane Lowry is near the foot of the field after slumping to a three over par 75 on Friday, marred by a treble-bogey after finding the water twice on the par-3 15th.
The Irishman has some illustrious company near the bottom of the field, with Justin Rose, Jason Day and Viktor Hovland among those in the black numbers.
All will see out the weekend given that Cadillac Championship’s status as a signature event with no cuts.
