FAIRFIELD, Calif. — No. 15 Pepperdine men’s golf currently holds a two-stroke lead following the opening two rounds of the WCC Championship from Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, California.
The Waves were tied for first after a -7 opening round in the morning, pulling away in the afternoon with a -9 team mark. Pepperdine’s -16 team mark puts them two strokes ahead of No. 45 San Diego (-13), who sits in second.
Tomorrow’s third round will wrap up the stroke play portion of the Championship, with the top four teams advancing into match play Sunday for the title.
Four Waves were under par on the day, paced by Mahanth Chirravuri sitting at -6 which puts him in a three-way tie for second individually (four strokes back of the lead). Chirravuri logged a 69 (-2) in the opening round, going even on the front nine before firing a 34 on the back with three birdies. He went on to catch fire on the back nine, making four birdies in a five-hole stretch from 12-16, getting in with a 67 (-4), which was the lowest round of the day from any Wave.
Brady Siravo sits in the top-five individually as well at -5 on the day. Siravo carded a 68 (-3) in the morning, beginning his day with four birdies on his opening front nine. He went on to post a 69 (-2) in the afternoon, making birdie on 15 and 16 to surge into the top-five of the tournament.

Byungho Lee posted rounds of 69 and 70 on the day as he sits in 12th individually at -3. Lee made six birdies in his opening round, firing a 33 on the front nine to make the turn at -2. He then rebounded from three bogeys spread across the back nine with three straight birdies from 15-17 to get in with his 69. In the afternoon, he scattered four birdies and three bogeys to contribute to Pepperdine’s team score once again with a 70.
Willy Walsh was the fourth Wave to finish the opening two rounds under par at -1, after carding rounds of 72 and 69. Walsh posted a 72 (+1) in the morning with a colorful scorecard which featured six birdies and two double bogeys. In the afternoon, Walsh settled down to make four birdies and post a round of 69 (-2) to help push the Waves into the solo lead.
Luke Dariotis logged rounds of 71 and 75 as he sits in a tie for 39th individually at +4. Dariotis shot an even par-71 in the opening round, making three birdies from holes 13-18 after being +3. His second round saw him post a 75 (+4).
