Cameron Young will take a five-shot lead into the weekend at the $20m Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.
Young hit the front on day one with a 64 and then extended his lead with a composed 67 on day two.
The 28-year-old American finds himself at 13-under par and five shots clear of his compatriots Jordan Spieth and Alex Smalley, and Canada’s Nick Taylor. Gary Woodland rounds out the top five on seven-under par.
Scottie Scheffler lurks a further shot back on six-under par with a flawless 65, but the world number one has it all to do at seven shots off the pace.

Alex Fitzpatrick, who is making his first start as an official PGA Tour member this week after having won alongside his brother at the Zurich Classic last weekend, vaulted up the board with a bogey-free 66 to join Scheffler and others on six-under par.
Justin Rose is unfortunately having a week to forget with his new McLaren Golf irons in play for the first time, as the world number seven finds himself at five-over par, which positions him second last of the 72 players in the field.
Young, who won The Players Championship in March, is going in search of his second title of the season the third of his PGA Tour career.
The world number four is not counting his chickens just yet though.
“I feel like I’ve been around the lead quite a bit, I’m not particularly uncomfortable,” said Young.

“I’ve liked this golf course thus far. So that being said I’ll take whatever advantage you’re going to give me.
“There’s a lot of guys right there, four or five back, and I’m sure somebody will be four-under through five tomorrow so you just have to be ready for that and go from there.”
Young not only leads the field for strokes-gained total so far this week but also strokes-gained putting too.
“I putted really well,” he added. “I feel like I just took advantage of the opportunities I had.”
He would like to get himself in position off the tee a bit better over the weekend though.

“I didn’t hit it terrible but I just wasn’t consistently in position all day. I didn’t drive it amazing. I think that’s kind of what I would like to do better tomorrow.”
A victory for Young on Sunday would send him back to world number three.
The Cadillac Championship marks the fifth Signature Event of the season.
There is a $20m prize purse, with $3.6m going to the winner.
