Trump administration asked NFL’s Commanders to run Langston Golf Course

The Trump administration has approached an unusual potential operator to take over control of one of Washington’s historic public golf courses: the Washington Commanders football team.

Officials with the Interior Department last month asked the NFL team’s charitable foundation about overseeing Langston Golf Course in Northeast Washington, the historic home of African American golfers in the region, according to two people familiar with the discussions who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss them publicly. The golf course is less than a mile from the team’s future home at the former RFK Stadium site.
