Trickle Creek Golf Course, which due to its elevation typically opens a little later than Kimberley’s other two golf courses, has wintered well and is looking forward to another great season of golf, which begins on Friday, May 8.

“The course is in decent shape, we just need some heat to make it grow, but it should be in fantastic shape by the time we open on Friday,” said director of golf Murray Thomson.

Right off the bat, Trickle Creek will host their Community Day and Food Bank Fundraiser on Sunday, May 10. Akin to the Community Day held each year at Kimberley Alpine Resort, this event gives East Kootenay residents the chance to golf for just $49.99, cart and range included. All you need to do is bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation for the Food Bank.

Tee times start at 11 a.m., proof of East Kootenay residence is required. Make sure to book your tee time in advance, as spots are already booking up. You can reach the Pro Shop at 250-427-3389.

Then on Thursday, May 11, head up to the course for Callaway Demo Day and get the chance to try out the latest equipment and get a custom club fitting from an experienced representative. Sessions will include swing data analysis to match you with clubs that fit your game.

Call the pro shop to book your 30-minute appointment, which are available between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This season will also see the return of the Pars and Guitars live music series, with performances in June, July and August. Performers are yet to be determined, but Thomson said Garrett Gregory is coming back for sure.

On Sunday, May 10 the course will host a Mother’s Day brunch, alongside Community Day.

The course will also host Cloverdale Paint for a couple of big tournaments and they are working on putting together another big cash scramble for the fall.

“It’s going to be a good year,” Thomson said. “Lots of groups have already booked, and it’s busier than the last year and we were up by 30 per cent last year, so it’s going to be great.”
