DORAL — The PGA Tour’s return to Trump National Doral means the return of President Donald Trump to a PGA Tour event, and the first time he will get a chance to admire his new statue.
The president is expected to be at Doral this weekend and appear at the Cadillac Championship on Sunday, May 3 during the final round. The Cadillac Championship is the first PGA Tour event at one of Trump’s courses since the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2016, also at Doral.

That resort is where a 15-foot statue of Trump — dubbed the “Don Colossus” — was recently brought in. The 3.1-ton bronze statue covered in golf leaf sits on the property just off the walkway between the first tee and driving range.
Trump was expected to arrive in West Palm Beach on Friday, May 1 after speaking earlier in the day at The Villages near Orlando. The president was scheduled to speak at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in an event runs from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is hosted by the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches.
Trump last attended a PGA Tour event in 2016, at Doral, before the WGC-Cadillac Championship was moved to Mexico after Cadillac pulled out as the title sponsor.

That started Trump on a near-decade long beef with the PGA Tour, which heightened when LIV Golf was created and started using his courses for their events, including four straight years at Doral starting in 2022.
LIV’s team championship was at Doral that first year, which included Trump in the pro-am. He spoke after that round about his feud with the Tour, criticizing its leadership and urging more PGA Tour players take LIV’s money.
Trump made an appearance at LIV’s last event at Doral in April 2025. He arrived at the course via helicopter, which landed by the ninth green.
Trump and several U.S. Secret Service members hopped in a lineup of about a dozen golf carts and he was whisked from the course to the clubhouse. But first, he did a circle near the back patio, waving to cheering fans. He exited the cart and walked along the lawn to a side entrance.

Trump later attended a dinner on the premises with LIV golfers.
But with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund pulling its funding for LIV after the 2026 season, the league’s future is in doubt. And Trump once again is throwing his support behind the PGA Tour.
