What Changed at Metropolitan Golf Club? (Front Nine)
The Metropolitan Golf Club is one of the standout courses on Melbourne’s famed sandbelt – and in recent years, it has undergone a significant redesign.
In Part 1 of this two-part series, we explore the front nine changes alongside golf course architect Paul Mogford of Crafter & Mogford.
Beginning with the Course Enhancement Plan in 2017 and leading into the Green Replacement Program, this video examines how the course has evolved – including changes to bunkering, green complexes and overall strategy.
We also explore the continued influence of Alister MacKenzie, particularly on holes like the 3rd, where the transformation is most noticeable.

What’s your first impression of the changes? 👀
Part 2 drops at 6:30pm on Wednesday next week.
Hopefully those trees in the 17th fairway are gone.
Only ever attended a couple of tournaments there, but the changes look good
Interesting how courses change over the years. I always thought Metro's front nine was great but I never got to play the old back nine before the land was taken in 1960 for the school. That left the course with two distinct nines. And then they lost the par 3 in the middle of the back nine (13th) because of boundary issues. Hopefully the course is now a fully unified 18. I look forward to the second half of this video.
Classy video as usual mate! 👍
