Like going ‘Full Bondi’ the behind the scenes story of the crypto-commissioned trump statue has yet to be fully told, but it has finally been installed.in time for a PGA tour event. Trumpian statuary has some place in some history, but not art history.

DORAL, Fla. – The Donald Trump statue at Trump National Doral is the talk of the driving range on Tuesday at the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship.

Standing 15 feet tall (22 feet with the pedestal), the gold-leaf bronzed statue of the two-time and current U.S. president was installed at the resort earlier this month.

The statue, created by artist Alan Cottrill and commissioned by a cryptocurrency group ($PATRIOT), depicts Trump with a raised fist following the July 2024 assassination attempt. It’s very on-brand.

A former pizza chain owner and army veteran, Cottrill became a self-taught sculptor of cast-bronze statues and busts

A Patriot rep spoke with Cottrill’s legal counsel March 11, but there was no progress made, Cottrill shared with the TR.

A resolution has not yet been met for money owed, Cottrill said, which has increased to around $95,000. Part of the bill includes storage costs of the Trump statue itself and a trailer that was left behind by Patriot for around a year and a half.

Much of the money owed is for copyright usage. Cottrill and Patriot made an agreement over limited use of the statue’s imaging and intellectual property.

Patriot was given reproduction rights for mini statues under 24 inches and the ability to market imagery. For Cottrill, he retained rights to reproduce statues of over 24 inches.
