Why I’ve Started A New F1 YouTube Channel (And I’m No Longer Full-Time On The F1 Word)

Hey guys, Sean here and welcome to…Formula Sean. A brand new F1 YouTube channel with a familiar feel. In this one-off ‘channel launch’ video, I explain why I’ve decided to start a new channel and what you can expect from me here on Formula Sean and over on The F1 Word. Any questions? Let me know down in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer as many as I can!

  1. Been with you since 2017 and here for the long run.
Although other F1 communities have grown more in recent years, you've managed to build and keep your community nice, open and welcoming.

While other channels may be a bit quicker and more consistent with putting out content on news and recent development, you're my no. 1 address for discussions and opinion pieces.

    Keep up the great work!

PS: I'm soooo looking forward to the mid week community & race reaction streams 😍

  2. Glad to hear you weren’t put through the ringer Sean, but of course still a shame to see – however it sounds like you get to make some great content like the old F1 word videos, which I’m excited to see! Bring on the new era 💪🏻 PS love the new channel branding too!

  3. New here and I like your thorough coverage pre and post, as well as the live watch alongs! I've got others I watch as well but that's good, lately it feels like the creators in the F1 community space are excellent, as viewers we are spoiled for choice!
I'll stick by the channel, glad I found you. Funny timing with watching for the first time only weeks before you made the move

  4. Well well well, a new dawn has broken has it not.
You know full well just how much I love your content and community Sean, and thanks for making even me feel old with quite how long I've been here for. Can't wait to see what this channel can become, and definitely cannot wait for the return of the Race Reactions…. all we need back now is some Marbles streams 😛

  5. Glad you have committed to your own channel… One thing though , could you please try and get the much missed Stuart Taylor to take part in your show Good luck Sean and all the best

  6. Hooray – YouTube actually recommended this video to me in a somewhat timely fashion!

I much prefer the authenticity of a creator sharing what they enjoy over what happens when a channel starts chasing the algorithm.

Very much looking forward to the return of race reviews / debriefs / whatever you end up calling it – I found those much more interesting and engaging than the previews and predictions.

I’m probably going to be working tomorrow when qualifying is on and watching it later, so sadly it looks like I’m going to miss the first watch along on this channel, but I’ll be doing everything I can to support your new channel.

    Happy new beginnings!

  7. Great to hear from you Sean, even though for me, the algorithm didn’t recommend it (but I’m one of the few I guess who actually look through their subscribed channels every so often 😂).

Anyway, I too can’t wait for race reactions. Every once in a while, I even look/listen back to some old ones when I want to relive a race. They were amazing to finish the races with!

Also, I hope the ‘regular’ crew (Stuart, Jonty, maybe even Dan?) will join you often and soon. I still like your chemistry A LOT and the four of you might even have some great ideas for the ‘non-race-week-related’ content? I absolutely loved the “what if” videos, like with alternate point systems, or the “ranting on a topic” ones.

As you said in the vid and comments: most important is to do what makes you happy and feel like you can do this for years to come. Guess I’ll like the resulting vids anyway 😂

Best of luck with the channel!

  8. When higher ups try to fix what isn't broken, it usually never works well and they end up with eggs on their faces. Good luck with this channel Sean.

  9. Without you, F1Word doesn’t exist. I hope they realise that because if they fully get rid it’ll be death of the channel.

Go back to waffling, why does Carlos have a crash in him constantly? What’s going on with Piastri? Talk about the FIA bs at the moment with MBS… that’s what we liked

  10. I wasn't aware that they owned the channel, I thought it was some co-ownership thing.

It seems like this is working out well for you (if I am correct about why you were moved to freelance) and it is great that you found this way to do what you do best. The waffles and light heartedness is what makes you my favourite. Among other things.

As far as I am aware I have watched every single post race waffle so I am glad they are coming back.

  11. Hey, just found this channel from your latest upload on The F1 Word. Great to hear that the race reaction streams will be making a return, I have really missed them.

  12. I’ve missed the post race reactions very much. The watch alongs are nice, but I like to listen to the commentators during the race and get your break down after.

  13. I subscribed to F1 Word years ago because of you Sean. We can hear the passion you have for this sport. I remember one year, you were commentating for ALL of preseason testing, which is insanely hard to do.

Hopefully your new channel becomes a great success as well. People subcribe for the creators, not media corporations

  14. Sean mate, I've been watching your content ever since you started and – honestly – you've been a massive part of my life growing up. I remember walking back from the train station on my way back from school listening to your midweek streams on Wednesdays, and honestly it made my week every single week. That's back when I was 15 or 16, and I'm 23 now (sorry to make you feel old mate, soon we will all be dust) and I still tune in to your streams and watch your videos on F1W whenever I can. I've loved being a moderator on F1W, and love the community you've built. Can't wait to see all the amazing things you'll do on Formula Sean too. Vamos!

  15. I think it’s safe to say most people watch F1 Word for you, not the channel name. So I’m sure you’ll get on just fine and they’ll be regretting their decision.

  16. Glad I got recommended this. ❤️ Lost touch with The F1 Word over the past 12-18 months and sorry things have gone south there. That was your baby and you worked so hard to achieve what you have. Glad to hear you'll still be somewhat active on that channel though and all the best with this channel too. 😊👌

  17. Bless you Sean and all your great content!!! Absolutely love your live stream watch-along's; the waffle content between yourself and the great community you've fostered is a treat to be a part of! haha

Looking forward to more of you unfiltered!

  18. Just my few cents from an extremely casual f1 viewer I found the f1 word years ago and I stayed because imo you was the definitive voice of formula one for someone like me who knows next to nothing about the sport. What I'm basically saying is I really enjoy your content and the video essays on drivers as someone who doesn't follow regularly is right up my alley and I'm gonna be supporting this channel going forward thank you for being the voice to someone like myself who knows next to nothing about the sport.

  19. Only just seeing this. Exactly what i knew would happen. You can find my original comment on your video when you first announced predicting exactly this. Starting again from zero, all this work not getting seen.

  20. So the people who took you onboard and brought the channel overextended and have had to cut the fat so to speak.

A shame, but not all business decisions make sense.

If they own the F1 word, the id move on from it.

  21. Hi Sean, I've listened to you since the beginnings of The F1word & always enjoyed your videos. Hyped for another exciting year of F1. Now that I found & subscribed to Sean's new channel, I'm ready for the season to start!!🏁😎👍
