Is The Masters really the greatest tournament in golf… or is it overrated?

This year is my first year watching any golf, and I like that it’s all free to watch. It makes itself accessible and it’s cool to learn about the lore. I understand your points though.
I mean its entirely subjective but I personally love the Masters. One thing I absolutely love about it is the fans or "patrons" as they are know arent allowed to bring their phones in. Its super refreshing in modern times to watch spectators actually spectating and not just pointing their phones everywhere for pointless social media clout.
Ok yes the interviews are highly contrived and controlled but that aside I disagree
1. The club and course were founded by Bobby Jones, the greatest amateur golf of all time and probably the greatest there will ever be. I discount the vulgarian racist Cliff Roberts – he was just the money and was only it it to make a bundle.
2. Few know that the course design was closely overseen by Jones who took his inspiration form the great links courses of GB and Ireland. So while it is not a links course (obv), it demands shots that are most commonly played on links courses: accurate driving to narrow fairways and favouring the draw (for right handed players), bump and runs, bunkers that actually penalise, great slopes, swales and hollows, putting from off the green and the ability to hit irons low or high depending on conditions and spin required. Lastly on this point, the Masters is not always played in glrious spring weather, it is often beset by wind and rain, just like a links course in fact!
3. The club maintains the tradition of high quality amateur golf and invites a greater proportion of amateurs to compete than any other tournament as well as maintaining the way that Jones plyed – with honour and integrity
4. Jones was not a golfing sexist. He played many tournaments with the great female amateurs of the day – The feisty Georgia Sterling and the British Joyce Wethered who was the brother of Roger Wethered who Jones beat in the final of the Amateur Championship in1930 when Jones won his grand slam in a single year. Yes the club has been too slow to admit women but see point 6.
5. Jones was modest. Roberts wanted to call the event the "Masters" immediately. Jones thought that arrogant and insisted on the more modest "Augusta National Invitation Tournament". Roberts kept on about it and eventually Jones conceded in 1939 and the evnt was renamed.
6. The club committee and Chair see their jobs as handing the tournament to the next generation in the best shape possible. Naturally this means that it makes changes slowly and after carefully thinking change through to ensure ll possible consequences are considered. Yes it's elitist but then so is the Royal and Ancient club, not to mention every club at which the Open Championship is played.
7. Finally the Club does do a good deal of philantropic work; c/f paying for the renovation of the municipal club that borders it known as "The Patch".
So my favourite majors are the Open Championship and the Masters. The PGA is only a major because its old and the USGA's obsession with par means the US Open courses are setup to be almost impossible to play.
You need to figure out how to export a video with proper stereo audio before you go slagging the Masters, mate. I understand you're fishing for views, but fucking hell. Not only were your takes abhorrent, your final product was reprehensible. I feel no need to argue against your statements because you posted this 3 days ago, surely reviewed it, noticed the audio was fucked, and kept it up anyway. Embarrassing.
