What are the pros and cons of framing out the bottom of the impact screen (image 1) vs having it loose or with a cable (image 2)?

Still a question for me as well. Mine is loose as have no holes in screen. Tried loose towards me under the turf. Tried folding away and up with a bungee. Still not pleased. Might try to sew a pocket or somehow Velcro to under turf. Need more people to share their pics of how they did it

I haven’t set mine up, but I’m going boarder less at the bottom. If I have to, I’ll put some sort of padding at the bottom behind the screen to prevent balls from rolling past.

I have mine framed on the bottom, but had issue with balls slipping underneath and behind the screen when I would blade a shot. I ended up using [this](https://cushionsxpress.com/foam-wedge-back-cushion-custom-size/) to prevent that issue. They’re pretty inexpensive all things considered. I ordered a cheap 120” tablecloth and some spray adhesive to cover it.

Worm burners can be dangerous! If you’re satisfied with the appearance of your screen with no attachment at the bottom it can work. You may have to chase balls that slip under the screen.

If your screen is attached to a frame you need to angle something in front to vector the ball into the screen. Wrapped gutter foam, bed wedges, blankets, I’ve seen lots of ways. I made a plywood ball ramp covered with 1/2” puzzle foam and turf that works great.

I’ve got a 16’ screen and there are no loops at the bottom. And most of my long iron shots hit the bottom 1/4 of the screen.

Because it’s not attached at the bottom and so wide I got quite a lot of flex in that section. I’ve been thinking about putting a strip of timber along the ground and then just using some kind of wedge clamp to hold it in a few spots.

I keep mine up about 2″ and out foam on the wall.I used to keep foam around the bottom bar, even tried building the mat up to level, unfortunately my kids blade balls down there all the time and the best way to keep the balls from flying back at us was to let it go under the screen, hit the foam on the back wall, and then the screen traps it back there

Have you hit any balls into that yet? I have a sneaky feeling you’re gonna be hitting the wall at some point as there isn’t much room behind that screen, at least from what I can see in the picture. That screen will get a wear spot that “stretches” in the most common impact spots. I’d say just keep an eye on it. Most screens say to have 8-12 inches minimum between the screen any anything behind it if I’m remembering correctly from when I was building mine out a year ago.

I have a combo of both where it’s loose but just sits over the bar like 2, the bar is well insulated so I don’t have issues but I’ve found it’s pretty good and the screen absorbs the force rather that taking it head on.

Maybe just ramp up the turf with an extra 6” strip of tile and have the screen behind it go right to the concrete. Did that with mine and not a ball has gone through + you get the seamless look and a ball return

Another thread was talking about these headboard wedges being excellent at stopping the ball and preventing a high speed ricochet.
