I did some research on DIY golf sims but am looking for feedback on my plan. The room is 20 feet wide, 30 feet deep, and has 16 foot ceilings. I have a basketball hoop on the opposite side of the room so I want the screen to be retractable so it doesn’t get hit while shooting hoops. I’ve attached pictures of the room.
Below are the items I plan on purchasing or already have. My original budget was $5k but I’m fine going slightly over.
Launch monitor: MLM2Pro $700 (I plan on putting this on the ground behind me while playing)
Projector: BenQ AH700ST $2,500 with casing (will also be on the floor with a protective cover)
Impact screen: Retractable custom size from MeTech ~$900
Golf mat: Carl’s place 4’ x 9’ mat $800
Laptop: Lenovo LOQ $1,100 (already purchased)
Any feedback or areas of improvement are appreciated. Thanks!

I’m just so jealous of that space.
I would advise looking into sound dampening materials. If that’s all drywall, a golf ball bouncing around is gonna make a heck of a racket with all that space above you.
Couple 2×6 standing / hanging wood boxes wrapped in carpet pointed towards the impact screen will do some good, doesn’t need to be anything fancy.
if the retractable screen extends from the ceiling, you could ceiling mount the projector as well. It’s already screaming for some of that gym wall padding for the sides. What a sick space for a sim.
Awesome space. If you are only running 1080p due to that laptop limitation (and in this light controlled space) I think you could likely get away with a much cheaper projector – the one you picked is very convenient with auto fit but since my TK710Sti 4K projector is ceiling mounted a one time setup wasn’t too bad.
I’m running a 16×9 MeTech system and it’s been great. You could run a cable/net system or wall padding for both ceiling and side protection.
Dont want to hijack your post, so apologies for asking in here.
For 4K transmission, PC to projector I suppose it must be wired?
