This. THIS. Right here is why we play isn't it. Yes it is legit.

I top my driver. Scuff my 4 iron and end behind trees. I decided to take a strategic shot with my 7 iron. It usually is about 155-160, I know I can likely fade if I miss hit, but my usual shot is a slight fade.

I went for it, saw the ball bend towards the hole, put my 7 iron away, and started walking only for the ball to be within 10 feet of the flag.

  1. Respect for not taking a new shot off the tee there!

This might be a strategy issue. Perhaps you were worried about losing the ball? It’s a tough hole. Next time try teeing off with a hybrid or even the 7i and see how you score

  3. I love the confidence in grabbing the 7i for the 158 shot after hitting a 4i 144 😝

Big ups for bring brave enough to carry a 4 iron. My 6 iron is more of an accent piece in my bag.

Kudos to you for not giving up on the hole.

I was really expecting to read that you holed out with your 7 iron, not that you got it close and then 2 putted 😂

I had a similar hole in August last year. Par 5 and a longest drive hole for this event I was in. Try to smash it and top it. Kicks right off a rock and went maybe 20 yards forward total. Have to chip sideways so I’m hitting 3 from the ladies tee. Absolutely smoke a 3 wood to about 170. Stick that to 15 feet and hit the putt for par. My favorite par of all time and the only highlight of a disgusting 99. But that hole made sure I wasn’t triple digits for the day.

I always say there’s no pictures on the scorecard, but there you have one…

  10. Truth though. Up to a certain point from beginner to mid-handicap, you’re realy just looking for that one single shot each hole thats gonna make you feel like a champ
