A club has hosted a special evening of food and entertainment to celebrate an important milestone.
Spalding Rotary Club members celebrated its 89th charter – showing recognition as a club by Rotary International – at Spalding Golf Club.
Guests from the Inner Wheel club and clubs across the district enjoyed traditional formalities and performances from Jeff Woods aka ‘Pavanotti’ from Pinchbeck and Ukrainian singer Oksana Ponaida.

“We are people of action, proud of our club’s commitment to service above self.”
As part of the formalities, the Paul Harris Fellowship Award was presented by Dawn Denton, District Governor Elect to three-times past president Barry Elliott.

Jim Tyner, president elect, gave an after dinner speech with a Monty Python style question ‘what has rotary ever done for us.’
He cited ‘promoting world peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, saving mothers and children, helping local economies and supporting the environment’ in answer to it.
Mr Tyner said: “The evening was a great success and embodied the idea of fellowship and fun, while celebrating another year of selfless contributions to our local community.’
