So far (knock on wood) I have a perfect track record when traveling with golf clubs. Let me know if you have any tips I have missed. Traveling with golf clubs can oftentimes be stressful but you can at least hedge some risk with a well packed golf travel bag.

Awesome video! Use short pieces of pool noodles to stabilize the clubs! 😊
Southwest, in one of their FAQs does mention that the golf bag can technically only have clubs, balls and shoes. In fact, since you're from the Bay like me– if you fly out of OAK airport, the Southwest agents will now always ask and sometimes visually verify what you have in your golf bag. Additionally, OAK TSA seems to do a secondary screening of the golf bag EVERY TIME I fly out of there.
I also have an OGIO silencer bag and I worry about the clubs resting on the rubber silencer dampeners(?) while laying sideways so I tend not to take it with me on trips unless I'm planning 3 or more rounds. I usually just switch to a lighter hybrid bag.
When packing my golf travel bag I'll also use iron head covers and then wrap the top with a small moving blanket from Harbor Freight.
All around great tips! I have flown United (from SFO) with my SunMountain ClubGlider which is by far the easiest bag to roll around airports, car rental areas etc (even my 9 year old can effortlessly pull his). They never ever check if you have exactly 1 pair of shoes etc. I put towels, rain clothes etc and they just sent it through. As a 1K I think I can even go to 70lbs. (TSA on the other hand has inspected my bags almost every single time, leaving a nice note to let me know). The one thing I do is put the headcovers in my normal luggage. Was told that they are the most targeted items to be stolen (although rare) from a golf travel bag. Btw I have also used ShipSticks when I flew to France, and service was flawless.
It blows my mind that golfers spend thousands of dollars on the golf equipment but buy a soft shell travel bag. Hard shell vs soft shell prices are not significant enough to risk damage. I have a SKB case and I just through my bag in without removing heads. Peace of mind and not worrying about luggage handlers yeeting my bag across the tarmac.
Perfect. I have been thinking about new clubs so I am going to go with a soft case and if they get damaged…."Damn it!!! The airlines ruined my clubs, Thst sucks. Honey, looks like I need a new set of clubs." In all seriousness I got some great tips out of this. I have travelled with clubs before and luckily did not have any issues. That being said, I will be adding the towel and shoes around the clubs. As far as the extras, I usually add toiletries and meds because I usually only go with a carry-on for my trips. Thanks Matt for sharing and here is to protecting my clubs on the next trup in April………or new clubs after the trip. HAHAHA!!!!
Another solid video! 🔥
i'm old! So the biggest issue with traveling with my golf clubs are that the bag/case has "wheels" ! Having to carry/drag a golf bag "without" wheels is a "bitch" !
Dope! Needed this video! I’m going to buy that club protector
Solid tips! The one thing I did the one time I traveled was after taking the heads off and putting them in the head covers, I put them inside the bottom of the bag instead of the side pockets. Felt like it was extra protected that way. Just a lil paranoia from seeing horror stories 😂
i use a bunch of those amazon airbags to cushion my clubs.
I fly with my clubs on Southwest quite a bit and I’ve never had any issues (knock on wood). Sometimes I’ll throw extra clothes in, but I definitely wrap a towel around the top. I usually leave my woods assembled too and don’t have a shell, guess I have some good luck.
In addition to what you do here, I have iron headcovers for travel and put the rain hood on the bag over the towel to ensure the towel stays where I want it. When done, none of the clubs move at all!
What size bag is that glub glove? Collegiate or pro?
I have a ClubGlove travel bag and really like it. Instead of wrapping towels around my irons, I use 2-3 pieces of bubble wrap. Also, I have used ShipSticks or directly with FedEx that works really well. Reduces the amount of time waiting for my clubs at the airport.
For me personally, just admiring the appearance, not all bags are worth the money. That being said, I do buy quality fakes/knockoffs at kisluxs because I wouldn't spend my money on the real thing.
The truth is, these bags were all overpriced. Now that we know they cost a fraction of the sale price and are so poorly made, itâ s clear they werenâ t worth it. Furthermore, many of these items are knockoffs. There are a lot of knockoffs out there at kisluxs knockoffs of such good quality that theyâ re no longer luxury items.
GREAT presentation. Thank you!!!
I use a 5 gallon pail upside down over the clubs like a helmet for the added protection.
You are impossible to understand
What if I’m buying the clubs brand new. Will they be ok to leave in the shipping box? I’m flying overseas and these will be for a friend. I’m not a golfer.
Why don't you put the removable headed club shafts into the bag with the tips in bottom of bag and grips sticking out of bag to protect damaged to the adjustable tips?
Thank you for making this video, I used to call ahead and rent clubs but no more!
Awesome
We're gonna need these tips for next time!
😂 Haha, Uncrustables NO KA OI !!!
Newbie question. I just got into golf. I’m going to Tokyo and plan to buy a golf bag there. What’s the best way to fly with it in your opinion? No clubs just a bag alone.
Good vid
how about using bubble wrap???
I encase mine in concrete
Turn all the irons inward, and weave towels between so the don’t bang together
Hey, what a great tip: removing your club heads before packing. Real enjoy your videos.
I travel regularly to the USA with a full set of clubs. For a bit of extra protection I wrap the heads of all the irons in bubblewrap and then put an ordinary plastic bucket over the club heads….I’ve never had a scratched or broken club.
