He almost blew a 6 shot lead after day 3 and was 3 behind after 6 on day 4 yet still won ! It doesn't say much about the opposition that they allowed this to happen .

Personally i was a nervous wreck watching him… had to switch off… seems to be his headspace thats his biggest competitor… but he has a hold on it i guess..hopefully he can leave it behind … I've never experienced edge of my seat nerves with any other golfers over the past 50 years..i used to be relaxed watching golf…

Congratulations to Rory !! but talking him up like this doesn't help. Sheffler nearly caught I'm from 12 back with 36 to play. Rose, Burns and Young should have caught him but didn't. When the pressure is on some golfers fall away like Reed and Lowry but credit to Rory but it was so so close and on another day ?

Rory held himself together well to win despite truly horrendous driving and loads of lucky breaks over the 4 days plus he was helped in the final round when all his rivals imploded including Rosey and Young, Rory's horrific driving and course management were exemplified on the 72nd hole because never in a million years should he have hit driver with a 2 shot lead – the only place he could not go was deep in the right trees and he his a massive banana slice deep in the right trees and he could easily have been stuck right behind a tree and had to take an unplayable and lost the tournament – he should have 100% hit a fairway wood or long iron like Tiger would have done but he just bombs driver on every hole with absolutely no idea or thought of where it is going.
I’ve always loved Davies’ body.
Rory is a hugely talented golfer, and certainly one of the greatest ever!
However he’s also incredibly erratic and unpredictable to back him.
The standard all day was really poor. Always exciting but was not a great watch this year
I agree with Pat….
His driving was (for him) quite poor (only hit 55% of fairways) this week and he missed at least a dozen putts by less than 2 inches. Imagine how good he could be if the stars ever align for one perfect week.
Incredible what Rory got done without his A game.
He won with his B long game.

Idk … Rory is a massive, but mercurial, talent. I wonder whether Sheffler will pass him before too long. We shall see. For now, Rory is ahead.

McGinley is crazy – he'll slam Rory and then when he wins he's all – yeah he's class. I get being an analyst but he's negative and then acts like he was pro Rory all the time.
Does anyone call a spade is spade! To hit the ball so poorly off the tee, and not have to chip out, or lost ball, is surely Divine intervention! If he was playing a course I play, he wouldn't break par with those tee shots!! Horrible and it tells you the state of the game, ball control off the tee now has no meaning! Cam Young had a break on one tee shot, other then that, he spot on with Rory's length. The one time in the trees, he had to chip out, then ends up in a divot in the fairway! When I seen this play out, I felt he was in for a long day! They don't need to roll back the ball, they just need these bombers to pay a price for being errant! The drive on 18, should have cost Rory the tournament! There are leprechauns everywhere on that course, I swear, making sure Rory had an out on every tee shot miss! PITIFUL!
Class of his own? He blew a massive lead and won by one hole. Two strokes separated the Top 6.

Rory’s pitching all week was on point , scrambling is part of golf and ESPECIALLY around Augusta , so well done Rory 🍾🍾⛳️⛳️👍👍
What would McGinley know about it? An average golfer at best who got lucky at the Ryder Cup.
Rory is not in a class of his own. He hits errant tee shots flubs into the water just like the rest of us. That doesn't mean he's not very good. Just not in a class of his own.
Wait until Scottie gets his groove back. Rory"s win was great but he beat barely a guy who had a horrible Masters but managed to claw his way to 2nd.
Europeans have only won 3 of the last 13 majors. Pathetic.

Dame Laura Davies is correct. Rory and Scottie are miles ahead of the current crop of men on tour. And they rarely need to deploy their A game either
