25 Years of Links: AmateurGolf.com Two-Man Links Championship Returns to Bandon Dunes

Some tournaments mark a date on the calendar. Others mark time.

For 25 years, the AmateurGolf.com Two-Man Links and Father & Son Championship at Bandon Dunes has done both—bringing together competition, camaraderie, and pure links golf on the rugged southern Oregon coast.

From April 16–20, 2026, players from across the United States and Canada will once again head to Bandon Dunes for AmateurGolf.com’s flagship best-ball event, a championship that has become part annual pilgrimage, part reunion, and part proving ground.

And in its 25th year, the meaning runs deeper than ever.

A Championship That Helped Build AmateurGolf.com

Long before Bandon Dunes became a bucket-list destination for golfers around the world, it was an idea rooted in sand, wind, and vision. When the resort opened in 1999, it offered something different: a return to walking golf, firm turf, strategic options, and the unpredictability of true links conditions.

AmateurGolf.com recognized that spirit early. What started as a two-man best-ball event quickly evolved into one of the signature experiences on the company calendar—an event that reflects everything the brand stands for: competition, travel, friendship, and unforgettable golf.

Over time, the championship has grown into more than a tournament. It has become a tradition. For some teams, it is the centerpiece of their golf year. For others, especially in the Father & Son division, it is a shared chapter in a much bigger family story.

The Bandon Difference

No carts. No shortcuts. No hiding from the wind. Just four days of walking golf across some of the most dramatic terrain in the game.

Four Courses, Four Different Tests

The 2026 championship will once again showcase the scale and variety that make Bandon Dunes special. Players will take on four acclaimed layouts over four competitive rounds, with each course asking different questions of every team.

Round 1

Old Macdonald

Bold contours, oversized greens, and strategic angles make the opener a creative test from the start.

Round 2

Sheep Ranch

Clifftop exposure and ever-present wind force teams to stay patient, inventive, and resilient.

Round 3

Pacific Dunes

Widely regarded as one of the finest courses in the world, Pacific demands precision and imagination in equal measure.

Final Round

Bandon Dunes

The original course provides a fitting stage for the final push and the crowning of 2026’s champions.

A Format That Rewards Chemistry

At its heart, this championship is about partnership. The two-man best-ball format rewards teams that know when to attack, when to steady the round, and when to trust the other player to carry the moment.

The event includes separate competition for Open, Senior, and Father & Son teams, with both gross and net prizes at stake. In recent years, the Father & Son division has become one of the defining features of the week, often accounting for nearly half the field.

That balance between serious competition and personal connection is what gives the event its staying power. Players come to compete, but they leave with stories that last longer than the leaderboard.

Net scoring note: Net scoring is based on 80% of course handicap, with a maximum of 18 per player, using the lowest GHIN index from the past year. Suggested maximum team handicap: 36.0.

Looking Back at 2025

Last year’s championship delivered a reminder of just how demanding and rewarding Bandon can be.

In the Open Division, Brett Widner and Matt Littleton pulled away from the field with a brilliant weekend finish, posting rounds of 65 and 67 to win at 9-under par. In the Father & Son division, Spencer and Marshall Cole claimed the title at 6-under, finishing eight shots clear of the field.

The week featured everything players have come to expect from Bandon Dunes—gusting winds, unforgettable shots, international flavor, and the kind of team golf that rewards poise as much as power. It also reinforced why this event remains one of the most anticipated stops on the AmateurGolf.com calendar.

2025 Open Division

Widner / Littleton

Won at 9-under after closing with 65-67.

2025 Father & Son

Cole / Cole

Won at 6-under and separated from the field by eight shots.

The 25th Chapter Begins

Milestone years invite reflection, but they also sharpen anticipation. This edition of the AmateurGolf.com Two-Man Links and Father & Son Championship carries both.

It is a celebration of where the event has been, of the players and families who have made it meaningful, and of the bond between AmateurGolf.com and one of the greatest walking golf destinations in the world.

But above all, it is still what it has always been: four days of memorable competition on the edge of the Pacific, where every team arrives with hope, every round demands something different, and every year seems to leave behind one more story worth retelling.

Four rounds. Four iconic courses. Twenty-five years of links, legacy, and partnership.
