In this video we’re going to be discussing how this exit move changes everything in your golf swing. Diving into what we see so many golfers do that’s stopping them from having a consistent golf swing compared to the pro’s who seem to be able to have an exit pattern that allows for a consistent golf swing to take place every single time.

Great job!!
Should I feel like I’m throwing the heel of the club at the ball when exiting left
My favorite golf instructor! If I ever get to your side of the pond, I'm coming to you for a lesson!
Is it for driver too?
Does it work for green side bunker?
Harry, so you’re releasing the club head late? Or not at all? Fred Couples in an instructional video talked about releasing the club head just after impact. I’m probably missing something but can you explain?
Best visualization of the exit and finish I’ve ever seen
That amateur finish where I end up w one hand has been a struggle latley….
Hands getting too out towards the target is my biggest issue right now. I get lots of heel shots and shanks and very little compression since my hand path is wacked out.
Eureka
It feels like your left armpit never leaves the left side of your chest…
I've always had a very in to out path, talking 12 degrees to 5 degrees minimum in to out. Often resulting in a block to the right or a snaphook to the left. I had the feeling as if I was gonna try to slice the hell out of it, resulting in finishing left and straightening my path. Somehow I confused in my head that my hands should follow the swing arc, but its the clubhead.
I have a tough time doing this but when I flair both feet out a bit with a slight open stance AND a CLOSED body , EUREKA!! Can you please explain why this is happening please.
Thanks for making this video. I've been a flipper of the club and I will be taking this drill to the range today.
Omgoodness, I have never seen anybody explain and/or show this type of movement before. Seems very simplistic. I hope it is anyway. I’ve always been guilty of trying to “time” everything, but it’s just so inconsistent for me. Point being, I can’t wait to get back to the range and try this out. I truly hope it works. Btw, does this have anything to do with the “stack and tilt” approach I’ve been hearing about? Thanks, have a good day!
Thanks for watching!

This is the best video so far describing the pivot and left exit. Way too much nonsense from online coaches on youtube. Good coaching Harry, well done.
Great vid mate!
Is it different when using a Driver ?
Can you explain what happens to left wrist after impact ? Does it flip flop , extend or bowed and for how long?
Does this not result in a lower ball flight because of the low left rather than higher hands?
🙏
@harryshawgolf, hi! Do you have a video that talks about this exit left move with the driver? I have a fairly major in to out move and have not been rotating like this (will need to try the drill at the range)… but I’m struggling to see how this can be done with driver without hitting a slice. Wouldn’t ball position be much further and path at that point would be left? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Interestingly enough, my issue is that my hands get too left and start going left way too early lol I recently discovered I make better contact when I think about my hands going towards the target through impact
Hi Harry
Tom from Denmark here.
Great video and explanation. Just one question: what about the club face during the downswing and impact?
Merry Christmas 😊
Good
Incredible video – I'm a long time flipper and early extender with a 2 way miss. I have had instruction to start downswing by getting left hip back and rotate and I thought that at 49 I lack the flexibility to do it so would need to throw… BUT if I have the "intention" to exit left as my swing thought – the lead side of the body will automatically do what it needs to do… it will get out the way and I post up lead side and hit ball with trail shoulder going down feel.
Does this make sense or am I finding a different way to most?
thanks
Great teaching thanks
Great video Harry! The crazy part about the hands exiting left is that you will find your clubhead starts to swing more inside-out. The opposite of what you might think but after a little thought this makes sense as golf is a game of opposites. This move also really allows you to take advantage of angular momentum and the clubhead speeds up naturally. When I do this correctly I pick up a full club in distance and typically hit a draw. Now I just need to learn to trust this swing, especially if there is trouble on the right 😊
Amazing!! I was doing exactly as you said “moving arms toward the target” I noticed a lack of power and a lot of weak toe strikes. Few weeks ago I was experimenting with low and left while hitting 60-70 yd shots and something clicked… this video really confirms what I’m feeling now. Thank you good sir!!
Reminds me of Justin Rose.
Exactly what I had been wondering. Where should I exit? Beautiful answer.
Nice
does this apply to driver?
At full speed you def have a release at the ball. It’s still on the arc but seems a snap at bottom.
Does this help correct over hooking?
I spent 30 years trying to swing DOWN THE LINE, and caused all sorts of problems. It should have always been to "exit left after impact". Simply allow the exit to follow the natural body rotation without adding any artificial moves to "SEND IT DOWN THE LINE". "SEND IT DOWN THE LINE" is the singularly most damaging instruction that I have received.
Harry great video. Just quick Q pls, should you have shoulders square at impact or will the late release allow you to open shoulders at impact? Thanks a mill John
has nothing to do with exit……………..but rather when it happens.
Does it works the same with the driver? Congratulations from Madrid
This appears to be helpful but how do you explain release or lack of release? This feels like a type of shot and not how to swing an iron on every shot? What am I missing?
